But notwithstanding this diversity in form, the general plan constantly kept in view by the Divine Architect has been the central idea of combining lightness with the greatest possible degree of strength. The bones of the arms and legs are round were triangular, and hollow, thus giving with the same weight a greater degree of strength that have solid, besides affording a larger surface for the attachment of muscles. This quick little section doesn't make a lot of sense when you read the first sentence, you have to remember that they're talking about bones. The paragraph structure essentially of this section is what is slightly misleading. My grammar school English teacher would criticize a writer for not providing a topic sentence at the beginning of the paragraph. Regardless they have hit on a novel last backed up the design of the human body, the design of bones. There many fascinating aspects about the human body and the strength and weight of bones is definitely a topic that has been worthy of consideration and study for many years. In some ways we have only recently begun to understand just how important the design of bones are in carrying mass and dealing with impact. So in this case the writers actually touching on a very interesting topic even though they are doing that and a manner that is a hundred years out of date and slightly out of focus.

- Breast Augmentation
I am absolutely positive that the last thing that the authors of the Library of Health ever thought of was the concept of the Breast Augmentation. In 1916 society was just starting to loose its naivety as the first Great War started. Just a few years later fashion would promote the strapping of breasts for the best showing of the ‘Flapper’ styles and dangling necklaces and Bobbed hair cuts.
The concept of purposefully modifying body parts had probably only been considered from the perilous perspective of science fiction like Shelley’s notorious work on the subject.
Today, breast augmentation in los aneles is as common a practice as it is in Peoria, Illinois or anywhere across the United States and even on into many other countries around the world. To put it another way you do not have to get a breast augmentation los angeles style, but it is possible and accepted. There is a great deal of research that has been done that indicates that augmentations may even help the psychological impact and self perspective of a person receiving an augmentation. Regardless, counselling in addition to an augmentation is an important thing to consider. After all you are seeking a permanent (semi-permanent at least) physical change in your body that you may have to live with for the rest of your life. You should make sure you are ready for this and then move forward with confidence.
Los Angeles breast augmentation may be known as the birth place for the concept or at least the hollywood acceptance of the practice but it has definitely transcended cultural barriers and continues to become popular around the world.
The flip side of course is the breast reduction. Some women seek to have a reduction performed. This sometimes brings their breasts into balance or reduces their overall weight. Sometimes this can even be accompanied by an augmentation after the fact to create a desired effect.
- VIEW OF THE LARGE BLOOD-VESSELS, SPLEEN, KIDNEYS AND BLADDER
Blood Vessels of the Body.–The blood-vessels of the human body consists of heart, arteries, veins and capillaries. the heart and its wonders we have already referred to. In this magnificent chart we are enabled to form some idea of the larger blood-vessels. We see the main arterial tube of the body — the aorta — from a point where it unites with the arch of the aorta; and in its dissent downward along the spinal column it gives off numerous branches.
The Arteries.–opposite the fourth lumbar vertebra is seen to split in two, and these divisions are called, from their position, the right and left iliac arteries. These are seen to divide again into the internal and external iliac arteries, the former of which is distributed to the walls and this are contained in the pelvis, then proceeding to the lower limbs after sending two important branches to the abdominal walls. The arch of the aorta gives off the innominate artery, which divides and to the right carotid and right subclavian arteries; the left carotid and left subclavian spring direct from the arch of the aorta. Each carotid artery divides into the external and internal carotid arteries, the former being distributed to the external parts of the face and head; the latter supplies the brain and internal parts of the cranium. The subclavian arteries supply the upper extremities with blood.
__________
These sections are fairly descriptive and provide an apt description of these initial areas covered. The word innominate did throw me for a loop and I had to go look it up on Wikipedia.
As a processing point for this blog, I’m going to attempt to speed up my coverage of the book. So for things to be going a little too slow for my own tastes and I don’t want to grow stale on the topic. I hope you’ll bear with me, but this may lead to if you additional incorrect translations of the spellings from the book. I feel the need to get through the book and I suspect I will be making additional passes back to the book at later dates. If you come across anything that just doesn’t make sense and I haven’t covered already please feel free to leave a comment, I’ll reference again in the book and determine if I’ve made in an accurate translation or if it’s just a peculiar topic as it’s covered in the book itself.
I don’t expect any extreme mistakes or extra peculiar things to come up such as substituting strange words into context in the book are ascribing people wearing an animal costume or who knows what, but I am using Dragon NaturallySpeaking to translate the book and the software does upon occasion make some strange substitutions and words.
- Avoiding Cholera
Avoiding Cholera. — a first and highly important warning, therefore, which these and many other similar occurrences give us is never to drink any water which, by any possibility, could have become contaminated with the smallest particle discharge from the bowels of a person suffering from cholera or choleraic diarrhea.
This ending on Cholera, is slightly confusing at first as the 100 year old grammar is slightly odd. However, the general lesson seems to be coming across. Its a lesson talking about germs essentially, Cholera specifically. But the author is painting a picture for the lay person that small particles can contaminate water and make everyone sick.
